About: The Offerings

The Offerings is a symbolic exploration of the things I’ve offered over throughout past season.
To myself and others.
To varying degrees of success and acceptance.
There is so much that is lost in the translation of the offers themselves.

The questions that I still haven’t answered:
What do we offer? How much? To whom?
How do we prioritize what we offer?
When do we give what we want to offer? And when do we offer what we’re asked?

The process
Cyanotypes are images printed in partnership with the sun, using an iron-salt solution which makes the surface of the heavy, cold-pressed watercolor paper photo-sensitive. I use both photograms (physical objects) as well as transparent photographic negatives (created from original photography), often layering the two. After developing in the sun, the work is rinsed with water to develop a monochromatic image in a consistent Prussian blue, and at times adding small details using Conté à Paris pencils.

All pieces are originals and will never be re-printed in the same composition.
